The best AI event for you is the one that matches your next step: a free local meetup if you are starting, a workshop if you want a skill, and a summit if you want to meet decision makers. Canada has all three this fall, in almost every major city.

A few we are watching in November and December:

  • Toronto: AI Community Conference (November 13) and DevFest Toronto (November 15), both built for people who want to learn by doing.
  • Montréal: ODSC AI Skills Accelerator (November 5, free) and Mila's Community of Practice on agentic AI (November 10).
  • Vancouver: AI Ethical Futures Lab (November 3 and December 1) and the AI Happy Hour at FriendsQuarters (November 20, free).
  • Calgary: Build Your First AI System (November 3, free) and Future Summit 2026 (November 9 to 10).
  • Victoria: Prompt Victoria AI Conference (November 5).

How to get the most from an event:

  • Pick one goal before you go: a skill, a person, or an answer to one question.
  • Prepare a two sentence introduction: what you do, and what you want to build with AI.
  • Ask people what they are building, not what their job title is.
  • Follow up within 48 hours with one useful link or idea, not a sales pitch.
  • Write down one thing you will try the next week, and try it.

Events open doors. A plan is what makes you walk through them. AI brings the code. Humans bring PURPOSE.
